FreshLife Foundation (FLF) is a non-profit working to promote the inclusion and empowerment of West Oakland residents in their health and health choices. FLF invests in West Oakland residents by connecting them to services and programs that address unmet community needs, empowering them to improve their health, building community gathering spaces, and inspiring community members to advocate for an inclusive and equitable West Oakland. Our tools for pursuing this mission are outreach, partnerships and training.
FLF is beginning its work by partnering with Community Foods, an independent grocery store newly opened at 3105 San Pablo Ave., in the heart of the San Pablo Corridor of West Oakland. Together with Community Foods, FLF partners with local residents and organizations to offer a range of programs and services available to shoppers at the store. Community Foods is the current hub for FLF initiatives, with the grocery store providing space, partnership and collaboration on community health goals.
Fresh Life Foundation has partnered with Community Foods Market to launch a GoFundMe COVID-19 response and risk mitigation initiatives. We’re grateful to have a wide network of support, and invite you to contribute to continued efforts serving West Oakland.
Two key initiatives supported by these funds:
- Daily EBT 50% discounts
- Free grocery delivery for West Oakland seniors
Current FLF efforts are focused on Community Outreach, Events, & Educational Programming. FLF aims to expand its work to include development of training programs, health and incentive programs. Efforts will also support workforce development, neighborhood safety and local investment.
